Brown Accepted 2,649 Students for the Class of 2017


PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- At 5 p.m. on Thursday, Brown University notified 2,649 students from across the United States and the world that they have been accepted to the Class of 2017.
The students represent 9.2 percent of a 28,919-strong applicant pool and is the most diverse class in Brown's history, according to the university's website.
The Office of College Admission at Brown posted official offers of admission online at the university's admissions website after 5 p.m.
Forty-five percent of the admitted class are students of color -- students who self-identify as African American, Latino, Native American or Asian.
Of those admitted, 17.5 percent represent the first generation in their families to go to college, another record number for the university.
